Pines at Genesee Summer Colorado Mountain Wedding
Remember these two beautiful people? Alison and Nick, who were featured in an equally beautiful Mount Evans Summer Engagement Session back in June of 2018 were married that same year! Despite the sky being obstructed by heavy smoke from the Colorado wildfires, these two made the best of it. As much as I love a mountain skyline I think the view we had to work with was pretty epic. The connection and excitement between Nick and Alison easily made me forget all about the hazy day. I mean, come on, look at how in love they are!!! First Look Alison and Nick’s first look was on Lookout Mountain. We planned the first look just a tad different than most of the first looks I’ve done in the past. Rather than stand close together and have the bride touch the groom to turn around to see her, Alison and Nick stood far apart from each other. This distance gave them extra time to soak in everything about each other before coming close together for a more intimate moment. Such a simple difference that had a huge effect. I loved the addition of a few more steps to savor that mental picture of the person you will be spending the rest of your life with. I love when my couples opt for first looks so much. It enables time to get most of the photos finished before the ceremony, giving the newlyweds more time to enjoy their reception. Also, I’ve noticed that the weddings with first looks tend to get more variety of photos because there isn’t a time crunch. More wiggle room! (If you want to read more about why I love first looks please check out my full blog on them here). Reception After a lovely ceremony amongst the trees the reception moved inside, and it was a total kick! Nick and Alison brought the mountain vibe they love so much indoors. With trail mix party favors, a stunning cake atop a hand carved stand, and babies breath on every table. (On a side note, if you ever marry at the Pines, please pleeease add their pistachio bread to your menu. It might be green, but It’s amazeballs, like literally award winning). The best part of the reception though, without a doubt, was the DANCING! Nick’s family is of German descent, and they love polka music. And I kid you not, as soon as the polka music started, EVERYONE rushed onto the dance floor to polka! It was the best ever! Throw in some cute dancing by Alison and Nick’s nephews, a random limbo moment, and more polka music because why the heck not, and Boom! Stellar reception. I also had an opportunity to steal the couple away for a few moments for twinkle light shots because, well, I’m a complete sucker for them. Thank you, Alison and Nick, for letting me be a part of not only your amazing wedding and celebration. I am so lucky to have such wonderful clients, and now friends! Being such a close part of this special time in couples lives is truly a gift, one that I am so grateful for. Thanks for visiting!
